Under 10’s (2007/2008)

The U10’s have two squads in the Red and Green League of the South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference. Training is usually on a Thursday evening (daylight permitting) and Saturday morning, (normally at the Misbourne), with matches every Sunday (half terms and main holidays apart). AFCL U10 fixtures and other mini-soccer league info can be obtained from http://www.bucksfootball.co.uk/ No results are published for U7 to U10 age groups but brief match reports are often posted on this website.
The Manager of our U10’s is experienced FA Level 2 qualified and club secretary Jim Dale – ably supported by FA Level 1 qualified Sharon Keens, with Graham Linney, Martin Wooster also lending a hand. The telephone contact for Jim is 01494 718001 or mobile 07860 912216 or email jim@afclightning.co.uk
It is the intention of the U10’s to build 2 x 16 player squads ready for the move to 11-a-side in season 2008/9. Currently, we are several players short of achieving that ambition and would welcome players with experience and ambition to join what already is a formidable and talented squad of well trained individuals. Several of our players have already been approached by professional clubs and our two girls Katie and Georgia, now play regularly for Arsenal U10 girls.
Jim’s philosophy for the squad is to listen, learn, work hard and to approach every game with a positive attitude……… and a big smile ! The U10’s play open and attractive passing/running football, whilst maintaining a good shape. Many scouts, coaches and onlookers have over time praised the squad for both their individual flair and collective talent. Things may not always go to plan but if the squad go down, they at least go down looking the part and smiling !
The current squad x 2 for 2007/8 is as follows -:

Not in any particular order: Mark P. Adam D. Marc T. Oliver M. Ashton L. Mattie W. Alex B. Alex H. Alex G. George MC. George M. Alfi T. James M. Seb R. Nicholas dl R. Saj T. Jacob R. Opone A. Henry W. Tom K. Jay H. Daniel P. Sam C. Aidan O. + Danny D, Katie S. & Georgia G. (not pictured).
The U10’s are not just about kicking a ball around. Although many of the players go to different schools and live in different parts of the region, the football arena allows players to develop in many different ways – such as social interaction, leadership skills and individual character building. AFCL U10’s actively encourage these important aspects. On November 2nd, many of the squad will have a fun evening out in Aylesbury go-karting - just one example of how teams can gel, spirits can be lifted and ambitions achieved within the sphere of football.
