Team Talk
On reviewing last season which was a massive learning curve for us all. Full size pitches, off-side, large goals, 30 minutes each way and playing 11 a-side. This whole combination lead to us using every game a platform to move forward. I was pleased with the progress that we made and looking forward to this season
And finally I would like to thank everyone for playing their part during the 2006/07 season and this includes not only the players but my coaching staff and the most important section, the parents. There support on the touchline has been second to none and long may it continue in the coming season.
Your Manager
Marco has been involved with youth football since 1993 and also has enjoyed playing football since the age of 5 and has won numerous trophies. Marco has achieved his F.A coaching badge and is planning to going on to the next level.
With his Italian background his national team is Italy and he does boost that he has seen Italy win the World Cup twice. The latter one being special as he works for a German company who's head office is in Dortmund. The Dortmund stadium is where Germany had never lost, but they did to Italy in the Semi-Final. A Trivial fact - Germany have never beaten Italy in the World Cup. You can image that he was not popular back in the Head Office, this is where you are wrong his passion, desire, commitment and enthusiasm is always present and these are his greatest assets.
Marco's coaching team is a goalkeeping coach and two assistants and so the whole squad can benefit the knowledge base of the whole coaching team. With the core set of Players that have been together for five years and with additional new faces the squad's new challenge is cementing all that they have learnt and to keep improving.
Underpinning all of this Marco has fantastic support from all the parents. He believes this is the perfect set-up and he is looking forward in working together and seeing the players develop over the coming season.
Marco added, "I believe that AFC Lightning has and is a great football environment where the whole experience is dedicated to the children and their families."
